My name is Sally Davidson.
I am a qualified primary school teacher with 8 years of experience teaching in classrooms. I have worked in Marrickville, Sydney and now here in Orange, NSW.
It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I love art and colour (and sunflowers). I love teaching kids and am passionate about the importance of art in education and its positive benefits on our wellbeing.
Tall Short Artists was started as a way for me to give others more opportunities to be creative and to enjoy the positive benefits that creating art has. Kids (and adults!) now spend way too much of their time looking at screens and it is nice to get back to using our hands to make something we can be proud of.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist when we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso.
I couldn’t have said it better myself, Picasso! Kids tend to produce art without limits and ‘the fear’ like us adults. Lines aren’t perfectly straight and brushstrokes are made without careful deliberation. Colour choices are wild and why not add this crazy bit to my artwork?! I love seeing how kids make an artwork theirs and an expression of their own unique self.
Art gives us all a voice where there is no right or wrong. It is a therapeutic and cathartic process and helps to reduce stress.
In a busy world, why not stop and create? Everyone is an artist and you don’t need to be a master to make a masterpiece!
